Joe Tomkins

The grand, rugged scenery of the Eastern Sierra was compelling enough for him to want to call it home, so a year ago Joe transplanted to Mammoth Lakes, CA.

He is on a mission to create original content in which the vast high-desert-meets-alpine landscape not only serves as a stunning backdrop, but also intertwines with the human story.  That relationship begs to be explored, captured, and conveyed, especially in the vein of mountain sport, as it seems art and athletics are twin manifestations of the same call.

Joe started formal training behind the lens in high school, taking both classic and digital photography classes.  Out of high school he almost went to photography school, but instead opted to study Kinesiology with an emphasis on Exercise Science.  After graduation his artistic and creative tendencies begged to be set free, and it was realized that physical therapy was not the true calling.  Now, years later, Joe seeks to blend aspects of both realms in projects that are aesthetically educational and inspiring.
